We've recently restored the original farm cottage which was built in the early 1800's.

The pair of barn owls that lived in the old cottage are now happily breeding in their new nesting box right outside the main bedroom.

We offer four star amenities with the charm of reed ceilings, wooden shutters and an authentic olde world atmosphere. You have your own private pool where you can bask in the sun or go for a late night swim during our hot summer nights. Our cottage is self-catering and you only have to bring your own food and drink. We provide bedding, towels, crockery, utensils, firewood and even firelighters. The main bedroom has a double bed and a modern bathroom with bath and shower for two to make your stay truly romantic. The second bedroom has two single beds and its own shower and other amenities. There's a fully equipped open plan kitchen with granite work surfaces, lounge area and a large traditional fireplace and braai facilities. The cottage is serviced every day except for Sundays.

The cottage is in the middle of our game reserve and therefore very private and tranquil. You can virtually sit on the stoep or in the pool and watch game and other wildlife, it's a bird watcher's paradise (especially waterfowl), bring your tackle and do fresh water fishing, hike on the reserve and farm, bring your mountain bikes, take unique photos, gaze at the stars with your loved ones, explore various wine routes or join our employees in their daily tasks.

GUEST COMMENTS (Mobile numbers available on request)

Andrew & Ellen Johnson, Perth. Australia (Mar 09): We have enjoyed exploring one of SA's hidden treasures. The tranquility and beauty and the sounds of the wildlife are priceless. You are to be congratulated and commended for the level of service provided and the cleanliness of the establishment. Many others have over-promised and underdelivered - you have under-promised and overdelivered!

Martin, Cindy & Sarah-Jane Sheard, Cape Town (Apr 09): Your stunning cottage is the perfect place to explore the winelands from.

Dave & Nicky Hillman, Melkbosstrand (May 09): What a serene experience, surrounded by nature and God's creatures. We loved the little cottage and felt comfortable, rested and at peace. Even the first Cape Winter storm that swept over the farm, could not dampen our spirits. The continuous log fire kept us warm and cosy. We woke one morning with the Springbok visiting around the cottage and a short drive around the reserve, rewarded us with seeing Zebra, Wildbeest and Eland. We loved it here and will be back!

Grandpa Ed, Michael & Diane Hosty, Cape Town (Jun 09): Well worth waiting for. So glad we were able to stay at this beautiful cottage steeped with history. Felt like we had gone back in time, however with all the modern day cons. We felt very blessed to be able to enjoy the rain, mist and beauty of nature around us, and most of all the wonderful fire place and wine! We sure will be back to explore some more. Grandpa had a wonderful time. God bless.

Daniel & Caroline Simoes, Durbanville (Jul 09): We came away for a break from "lavida loca"  and it was exactly what we needed. A roaring log fire; glass of your excellent Sauvignon Blanc & Nat King Cole playing in the background. Heaven! We will most definitely be back for summer nights of animal viewing from the stoep. Warm regards.

Axel & Debbie De Boelpaep, Cape Town (Aug 09): Something to ponder... Who decided to make the weeks 5 days and the weekends only two? Obviously not somebody who stayed here for a weekend before! Magnificent in all ways! Thank you so much!

Parveen Dalvie & Richard, Cape Town (Aug 09): What a wonderful, serene place in which to spend a few days! Sitting on the stoep, drinking great wine and watching the wildlife. What more could you ask for? We had an awesome time and can hardly wait to come back. See you soon!

Penny & Henrie Geyser, Hout Bay (Sep 09): Loved the tranquility, the setting, the cottage itself, the animals, the fireplace and entertaining birdsong chorus. What a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend. We will recommend it to all our friends and associates. Thanks a million!

Dave, Beth, Carey & Tom Jenkings (Sep 09): We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Oude Denneboom. The setting is breathtaking and we had a great time watching the birds and wildlife. A special family time - a rare treat. We felt utterly spoilt by the whole experience and will definitely recommend it to friends.

Johan, Juli, Janelia & JJ Huisamen (Oct 09): Peace, Quiet, Tranquility & Luxury - The Perfect Therapy for your Soul. Highly recommended for every city dweller. In fact a must. Feel 10 years younger this morning. Thanks for everything.

Dave & Grace Ramsay, Christine Alessandrini, Nino Puccini (Nov 09): This has been a wonderful weekend. It feels like visiting family! This cottage is a treasure and we hope to be back to spend some more time in this lovely place.

Brett, Belinda & James Lunt (Dec 09): As a Zimbabwean "when-we", our expectations of privacy and "bush-feel" were pretty high... none were disappointed. Charming and comfortable cottage with beautifully designed thick clay walls. The touches of comfort and well-built extras all added to a wonderfully well-appointed but simple and exquisitely pleasant weekend. We will return, and often. (That pool! ... it's NICE!)

Enjoy!
